Little Able Xavier Wanyama is five and half years old and likes to play football or ride a bike when someone lends it to him. He has three siblings, and their parents take care of them in a modest tukul house in a Ugandan village called Wankoba. A relatively happy family got into trouble a year ago, when Xavier´s father began suffering from acute psychosis and was hospitalised in a special facility in Kampala. Xavier´s mother now takes care of her father at home. Therefore, both parents lost their jobs and the whole family deals with an everyday problem of what to eat daily. None of the children went into school in the last months, which is a shame since they are all very bright. Xavier also liked the kindergarten, and the teachers say about him, that he is a nice and clever boy. He loves all colours, so he wants to draw, colour, and play with all the other children.

Xavier was included in the project through our partner in Buikwe, Uganda – HIA (Health Initiatives Association), with which we are launching our third year of cooperation. As Barbora Šilhárová, the director of the centre, says: „We include children in the project, who are at their worst and need our help the most. These are positive children and children with other diseases, many of whom lost one or both parents. We also do not forget children whose parents are not able to provide them with education due to advanced illness.“

These days, Xavier and 20 children from Uganda are waiting for their Slovak donor. By supporting them, you can help them pay necessary school fees and once a year a school uniform, shoes and a backpack. For remaining money, children can buy hygiene and school supplies at a lower price than in a regular store. For Xavier, Salim, David, Jonathan, Witney and other children, we are deeply thankful.
