Why do we help Jackline and Ceaser

Jackline and Ceaser are orphans, who live alone in two small tukul houses (mud houses). Their father passed away a while ago and their mother only a few months ago. They went to school in Kureku but were expelled after the second trimester due to their unpaid school fees. Both of them like the school very much, and they were happy to go there. However, they survived only thanks to the help of their neighbours.

„They were both delighted and promised, they will try their best at school,“

Our volunteer Viktória was given information regarding their condition, and therefore went with our social worker to evaluate the situation, and engage them in the project, if necessary. After all, she decided to become their donor. Viktória writes: „The social worker and I went to visit them two times. During our first visit, we got to know each other and completed the requisite questionnaire for project enrolment. The second time, we came by a motorcycle packed with many items I bought for them since they were running short of almost everything. Those were basic items for a dignified life in local conditions. They were both delighted and promised, they will try their best at school, and we will stay in touch through letters.”

We hope this story will have a happy ending, Jackline will become a nurse and Caeser a teacher, as they plan. They are both very well aware their regular school attendance is a key to their dreams coming true.
