No one has ever become poor from giving, said our long-time donor

Mrs. Helena has been our donor for more than 25 years. By that time she has managed to support eight children from India and Ukraine. She made an album of photos and letters from her adopted children. She watches as her children grow up in front of her eyes, finish school and become independent.

When did you join the project and what led you to do it?

When I write letters, I always keep the original text and send the rewritten one. Therefore, I know for sure that I found out about the project in 17. March 1997. I wrote that my husband and I are interested in adopting two children. We got a little three year old girl Roshini and an older boy Agnel. Now we support two children from India and a theologian from Ukraine. We try to live according to the gospel and by the words from Bible: „Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.“ (Mt 25:35-40)

Kishore from India

Bhavana from India

Nazar from Ukrajine

Where did you find out about our project and what interested you?

I discovered the project from the press. It was not entirely clear to us what we need to do, so we inquired for more details. We wanted the support to be regular and long-term. I liked that you helped those who need it. You make so many people happy. I hope, that the children feel how Lord takes care of them and does not leave them without help.

What surprised you the most about the life of your adopted children?

In the countries where children live, they need more material help. We don’t even realize what we have, and sometimes we don’t even know how to appreciate things. I was very pleasantly surprised by how children want to learn. They overcome great difficulties and walk long distances to school to learn.

What motivates you to continue with your support?

I made an album from materials from my adopted children, where I kept everything. I watched them grow in front of my eyes. I was happy when, for example, Agnel finished school – I saw a grown independent man. Photos and letters motivate us to go on.

Is there anything you would like to say to our donors or those who are just thinking about supporting?

No one has ever become poor from giving. It applies to the letter. We never felt that we missed what we donated. I have my daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and we have always been able to share. We do this not for recognition or praise, but to live the gospel. The Lord sees our intention and love.

Thank you Mrs. Helena for the words full of love and encouragement. At the project, we are always happy to learn more about our donors, without whom we would not be able to help the neediest.
