„May God bless you for this gracious and humane act, through which helped you another without expecting anything in return. Greetings and a big hug to you from Cuba.“ Melisa
In many countries, it is sometimes almost impossible for parents to provide education for their children. The same applies to Cuba, where we help children in several parishes. Two years have passed, and donors‘ support in Slovakia is bearing its first fruits. This year, Melisa successfully graduated from university with a degree in chemical engineering and has found employment in her field.
We included Melisa in the project two years ago. At that time, she was already attending university, however, the situation in Cuba and within her family became complicated. Her parents divorced, and her father moved to another city, where he now works as a construction worker. Whenever he had the opportunity, he contributed to Melisa’s education, but the country’s high inflation no longer allows him to do so. Melisa lives with her mother in a poor-conditioned dwelling. The biggest problem is the leaking roof, and during tropical storms, water seeps into the house.
With these problems helped Mrs. Gabriela from Slovakia, who became Melisa’s adoptive mother. Thanks to the regular contributions, Melisa was able to continue her studies without worrying about what the next day would bring. In addition to school supplies, Mrs. Gabriela also contributed to her travel expenses, as commuting in Cuba is very expensive. After two years of support and Melisa’s hard work, Father Lukáš from Cuba sent us a message that Melisa completed her studies in chemical engineering.
In her letter, Melisa writes to Mrs. Gabriela: „Thank you for your prayers. I have successfully completed my studies and earned a degree in chemical engineering. I am very happy to share my joy with you because you are part of my success. May God bless you for this gracious and humane act, through which helped you another without expecting anything in return. Greetings and a big hug to you from Cuba. “
Melisa lives in an area, where people are engaged in shrimp farming and processing. Her job involves regularly conducting water analysis and she also oversees the quality of the products. Melisa is very satisfied with her job. All that effort she put into her education is now paying off, as she can do the work she had long dreamed of.
It takes very little to help children stand on their own feet. We believe that Melisa’s story will be an inspiration for other children from Cuba on their journey to achieving their dream profession. You too can become a part of their stories by joining our project.
