Small projects of the Children’s Donation Project were created with the aim to help children cope with their education, poverty, and the difficulties of everyday life.
In July last year, Father Clifford asked us for financial assistance to build antiflood wall near their centre. The building was built 18 years ago. In the meantime, however, during reconstructions, the roads in the surrounding area were raised, so the underground drainage systems were built above the level of the building. As a result, the ground floor rooms were flooded during the rain seasons, causing considerable damages to the SMSSS centre.
Father Clifford wrote to us about the flooding: “Flood water is reaching the entire ground floor, where we have the kitchen, dining room, office and sanitary facilities. The solution to this problem stems in the construction of two retaining antiflood walls and the reconstruction of the drainage system around the building.” In order for the centre to operate without complications and provide families and children with the necessary assistance, we approved the project and it was successfully completed in September 2023.
After the construction was completed, Father Clifford thanked us for our help in the final report and promised us that he would inform about how the project had fulfilled its purpose us after the rainy season in September. He kept his word and in his latest email he wrote: “This year we survived the torrential rains without the ground floor of our SMSSS building being flooded. We were able to cook for the children in the kitchen and they were able to use the dining room and the social facilities continuously.
I would like to sincerely thank the Children Donation Project and all its donors from Slovakia for their tremendous help in the construction and reconstruction of antiflood walls. Thanks to you, our children’s lives have become a little easier again. We think of you with great gratitude and in our prayers.“
