Small Projects of The Children´s Donation Project® were created so that we could help children deal better with their education, poverty, and the difficulties of everyday life.

In Uganda, it is common for children to sleep on hard mats or directly on the ground and cover themselves with their own clothes or the clothes of a family member. Such sleep is uncomfortable, but also unhygienic, and children do not sleep very well. The director of the HIA center, Dr. Barbora Šilhárová, who is also the coordinator of the Children´s Donation Project® in this center, wrote to us in November of the last year: „After the lockdown, as children returned to school, households were inspected, revealing the devastating consequences of the lockdown. During this time, a large part of our children’s guardians lost their jobs and their daily small earnings from part-time jobs. All their funds, savings or any other reserves have been redirected towards the purchase of food. Needs such as a mattress or a blanket were set aside because food was more important.

At the same time, Barbora asked us to implement a Small Project that would be focused on purchasing packages with necessities to improve the lives of children. When finished, she wrote to us: „Thanks to this Small Project, we were able to provide assistance to 120 families in need. The value sent was enough for a package that contained a mattress, a blanket, sheets, a plastic basin, a metal sheet suitcase and a mosquito net for one hundred children. With a small profit from the exchange rate difference, we were able to buy an additional 20 suitcases and thus help another 20 children.“ Having your own metal suitcase is a great advantage in Uganda. Children can lock their belongings in it and not be afraid that rats will eat them, which in normal circumstances happens quite often. The metal sheet suitcase thus fulfills the function of a wardrobe, only in a more modest design. The plastic basin is the Ugandan version of our sink. Children can wash their hands in it and thus live in a more hygienic environment.

„From the mentioned 120 children, there were mostly children with chronic diseases, either with HIV or sickle cell anemia. Ten children were selected from the community directly through the local mayor, following an evaluation of their situations by our social workers. The distribution of packages took place in the community hall behind the clinic. Most of the children came to us to collect their packages. For approximately 30 households were packages delivered directly as they did not have resources for the transport. The joy was truly great, and the children took their treasures back home with a smile. On my own behalf, and on behalf of all gifted children, I would like to thank the SKCH Children´s Donation Project ® once again as well as to all donors, without whom similar projects could not exist,“ concluded Barbora with gratitude.

Funds for the implementation of Small Projects are obtained from donations you send to us through the donation page, as well as from the contributions from donors involved in Children´s Donation Project ®. You can help children occasionally or regularly, without any obligations, by donating an amount of your choice. Thank you.
