Haiti is considered one of the poorest countries in South America due to a long-term political and economic crisis and is affected by devastating earthquakes, hurricanes, and storms. Most people make living from agriculture and grow crops that are barely enough for their subsistence. Without help, many families would not be able to provide for their basic needs. To attend school, children need food, school supplies, textbooks, uniforms, and shoes.
We would like to brighten your day with this cheerful story about two Haitian girls – Esperancie Jean Simon and Roosly Thai-Smude Salah. Thanks to the donors from Slovakia they were able to take a significant step forward to their dream jobs. Better living conditions also helped them to be a great support to their families.
Esperancia is from a really poor family. Her parents were not able to provide regular food or education. She joined our project in 2013. A not long time ago she confided to us: “ Stability and access to education were always part of my dreams. I never thought it could happen until I joined the Children’s Donation Project. Thanks to your support I got an access to education at the times I needed it the most. I will be forever grateful.
Esperancia finished her education with a bachelor’s degree. Now she is studying tourism and works in a library. She wants to get a scholarship to go studying abroad. After that, she wants to come back to her community to help children like her to get their education.
Roosly is also from a very poor family, where they could not provide for her basic needs. „Thanks to the Children’s Donation Project I got a chance to have an education. Thanks to financial donations I became a university student. I have a good job, I am able to provide for my whole family and help my close relatives who still live in poverty. I am extremely grateful for everything.“
She graduated with the best grades and received a bachelor’s degree. Now, just like Esperancia, she is studying tourism at the university. Her dream is to study medicine and provide health care for the poorest children and families.
We are happy about the success of both students. And we would like to thank our donors as well. As it is written in Bible: „And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.“ (2 Kor 9:8)
