He used to be a boy whom we helped, now he is the one who helps other children who need it. David is now an adult and thanks to his skills and the help of a donor from Slovakia, he managed to graduate and get a job. He didn’t have to look far. He found a job as an electrician and data collector at a clinic, which he had previously visited just as a patient. He also helps other people with HIV cope with this difficult diagnosis.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

David is now a 23-year-old young man, whom we involved in our project in 2018. At that time, he was a student at the third year of high school. He was raised by his grandfather. His mother suffered from advanced AIDS and was unable to take care of the boy. David is also HIV positive, but thanks to the care at the John Paul II Clinic in Buikwe, his health condition is stabilized. As a high school student, he earned extra money to pay his school fees, but it was not enough. Fortunately, involvement in our project allowed him to continue at his education. At that time, David was more of an introvert and at school he enjoyed mostly English, biology and technical work.   <\/p>\n\n\n

Dr. Barbora \u0160ilh\u00e1rov\u00e1, Director of the HIA center in Uganda, wrote about the boy’s progress to us: „David was firstly a high school student, later he was an apprentice electrician. Later he wanted to learn how to work with a computer. Given his potential, together with the Children Donation Project we supported him in his ambition. Last year, he learned the basics of the Microsoft package. Also due to his hard work, good English, and willingness to do something for others, we recommended him for YAPS (Youth And Adolescent Peer Supporter) training. This is a program where David learned how to be a patient advocate for other HIV adolescents and young people. We are sincerely proud of how he has progressed over the years. Also, for him to serve as a role model for other young people with HIV, since February 2024 we have employed him as a database assistant and electrician at our clinic. This is one of the most beautiful stories that we have experienced with our children over the years here.“<\/p>\n\n\n

A huge thanks goes to David’s adoptive mother, Mrs. Patr\u00edcia from Pre\u0161ov, who has supported the boy since 2018. She told us why she decided to be a donor: „I joined the Children Donation Project to help change the lives of children, who have been facing difficult life circumstances since early childhood, for the better. When I started traveling to other countries in the world, my eyes were open, and I saw how well we are in Slovakia. David’s success fills me with great joy, and I keep my fingers crossed for him on his next life journey.“<\/p>\n

What does David say about this? He told us the following: „I am grateful for the opportunity you gave me through the Children Donation Project. HIA is a place full of hope and love for me. That is why I am very happy that I can continue to work and help others here. I am grateful for all the support you have given me, may the Lord bless you.“<\/p>\n

Thanks to all the donors for the love and support they give to the children. Thanks to you, they can go to school, get education and meet new friends. Become a part of the project and adopt a child from Uganda.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
